- Can anyone give me any information about the type of modems
- in recent vintage Compaq Presarios, and a reliable method of
- disabling data compression/error correction in them? I work
- at the help desk of a large public library with a dial-up
- public access catalogs and internet connection, and we have
- had no end of problems with people not being able to connect
- to us due to our (addmittedly old) modems not being able to
- handle data compression/error correction. Those people have
- been able to connect if they turn those features off, but
- we haven't been able to determine any reliable means of doing
- this with Compaqs. We've tried various modem strings with
- little or no success. Any clues would be greatly appreciated.
- I'd appreciate it if anyone with any info could email me at
- gweller@cuyahoga.lib.oh.us
-
- thanks in advance.
